On a hot last weekend of June, we decided to escape to my home town, where weather was a little fresher than in the rest of Slovenia.
We took a hike along old Russian road which takes you from Tonkina Koča (Tonka’s hut) to the top of Vršič.
In the morning the path is nicely fresh and shady. Contrary to the main road, which is crowded with cars, cyclists and hikers, we hardly met anyone here.
In the beginning the path winds through the larch forest. The higher you go beautiful vistas open on Prisank mountain and its neighbors.
Along the path you can see consequences of storms and lightnings, dead trees, called “viharniki” in slovenian.
I took the opportunity and beautiful vistas to take some photos of our Aussie, Eddi. He wasn’t thrilled about posing, but he survived somehow.
